Mark, his parents, siblings and early life:
Mark was born in Weston, Berkshire. He was baptised in 1871 in Greenham, Berkshire, the son of Mark and Jemima Allen (nee Dance) who were married in 1870 (marriage registered in Newbury)
His mother Jemima Sophia was born in 1850, in Marlborough Wiltshire. She was baptised on the 5th May 1850, at Market Lavington, Primitive Methodist Station, the daughter of William and Hannah Dance (nee Newton) who were married in 1844. (Marriage registered in Newbury). Jemima died aged 93, in 1943 (death registered in Wokingham)
His father Mark was born c1849 in Greenham, Berkshire, the son of Mark (a Farmer) and Caroline Allen (nee Jenkins) who were married on the 1st February 1845, in Thatcham, Berkshire. Mark died aged 49, in 1897 (death registered in Fareham, Hampshire).
Jemima and Mark also had the following two children:
Caroline Hannah Louisa Annie, born c1875, in Thatcham
William Frederick Stephen Tomlin, born 1881, in Newtown, Hampshire.
In 1871 Mark (2 months) was recorded living at Weston Mill, Welford, Berkshire, with his mother Jemima (21), his great grandmother Hannah Newton (77), his grandparents, William Dance (49) a Miller, Hannah Dance (49), his uncles, Alfred Dance (19), John Dance (16), Wellington Dance (15), Frederic Dance (14) Albert Dance (11) and his aunt, Fanny Dance (8). His father Mark (22), a Wheelwright, was recorded boarding in Sonning, Berkshire, with a widow, Harriet Chandler (62).
In 1881 Mark (31), a Carpenter, Jemima (31), Mark (10), Caroline (6) and William (1 month), were recorded living in Newtown Common, Nr. Newbury, Berkshire.
The 1891 census records Mark (41) a Carpenter, Jemima (41) and their children, Mark (20), a Carpenter, Caroline (16), a Domestic Servant and William (10), living at Sheepwash, Kingsclere, Hampshire.

(Hannah Isabella (aka Isabella) was born on the 15th December 1870, in Newbury Berkshire, the daughter of John and Mary Ann Smith (nee Chamberlain) who were married in 1868 (marriage registered in Wantage)

A stillborn child in 1903 (buried in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 15th April)

The 1901 census records Mark (30) as a Carpenter, living in The Wash, Park Lane, Newbury, with Isabella (29) (Hannah Isabella), William (6) (Mark William John) and Maud (7 months) (Kathleen Isabella Maud)
In 1911 Mark (40) a House Carpenter, Isabella (39), William (16), an Under Gardener, and Maude (10), were recorded living at Park Lane Cottage, Andover Road, Newbury.
The 1921 census records Mark (50), a Carpenter, Isabella (49), Vera (6) and their granddaughter Grace Allen (1), living at 3 Fairview, off Andover Road, Newbury.
Mark died aged 50 on the 11th March 1922, in Royal Berkshire Hospital Reading. His body was brought to Newbury and he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 16th March.
Hannah was recorded in the 1939 Register living at 3 Fair View. She continued to live there until her death in 1963.
