Sarah Ann Collins (1894 – 1903)

 

Sarah Ann Collins was born on 9 September 1894 in Newbury, the daughter of Albert and Mary, nee Godwin, Collins.

 

In the 1901 census Sarah was recorded with her parents Albert and Mary along with six siblings, Fred (aged 16), Ada (aged 15), Nellie (aged 12), Edith (aged 10), Maud (aged 8) and Bertha (aged 1) living in Bridge Cottage in Greenham. Albert was a general carter and Joseph an errand boy grocer.

 

Sarah initially attended West Street school in Newbury. She then enrolled at the National School in Newbury on 1 April 1903, her address was recorded as Greenham Mill.

 

Sarah died in May 1903 aged just 8 residing at 8 Greenham Mills. She was buried at Newtown Road Cemetery on 20 May.

 

Sarah’s parents continued to live in Newbury and both died at 37 Newtown Road, Albert on 8 August 1939 and Mary on 11 July 1930. They were both buried at Shaw Cemetery, on 11 August 1939 and 15 July 1930 respectively.
