Job Haynes/Haines

1849-1852

Job Haines was born in Newbury, Berkshire. He was baptised on the 5^th August 1849 at St Mary, Speenhamland Newbury, the son of William and Ellen Haines (nee Cook(e)) who were married on the 20^th February 1848, at St Laurence, Reading, Berkshire.

Job Haynes died aged 2, in 1852, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 31^st January.

Job’s family:

His father William Haines was baptised on the 10^th August 1828, in Hampstead Norreys, Berkshire, the son of Joel and Eleanor Haines (nee Cooper) who were married on the 14^th October 1819, at St Mary, Thatcham, Berkshire.

His mother Ellen was baptised as Elinor in 1828 in Shaw cum Donnington, the daughter of William and Hannah Cook

William and Ellen also the following children:

Alice born 1851, baptised 29^th June 1851 at St Nicolas Church Newbury

William Job, born 1853, baptised 29^th April 1853 at St Mary, Speenhamland (died aged 5 months, buried 7^th September 1853, at St Mary the Virgin, Shaw cum Donnington)

The 1851 census records William (22) as a Corn Porter, living in West Street, Newbury with Ellen (23) and their children, Job (2) and Alice (6 weeks) (surname recorded as Harres on ancestry)

Slater’s Directory of Berkshire dated 1852, records William Haines as a Corn Porter of Carnarvon Place.

William was widowed in 1853. Ellen died aged 24, soon after giving birth to their son William Job. She was buried on the 30^th April, at St Mary the Virgin, Shaw cum Donnington. William remarried later that year.

Elizabeth gave birth to a daughter, Sarah Jane Hains in 1854. Sarah Jane died aged 1 in 1855. She was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 28^th September.

Elizabeth died aged 33, the following year. She was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 1^st March 1856.

William died aged 29 on the 24^th January 1858, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 29^th January.

After his death his daughter Alice went to live with her grandmother Ellen (Eleanor) and her 2^nd husband Job Haines. (Job was the younger brother of Joel Haines, Ellen’s 1^st husband)
