Edward Haines
c1869-1915
Edward was born in Ashmore Green, Thatcham, Berkshire, the son of Job and Hannah Haines (nee Wickens) who were married on the 19th April 1862, in Thatcham, Berkshire.
Edward’s father Job was born c1839 in Thatcham Berkshire, the son of Giles and Amelia (aka Emily) Haines (nee Allen, who were married on the 24th November 1816, in Thatcham.
His mother Hannah was born c1841 in Thatcham, Berkshire, the daughter of James and Betty/ Betsy/ Elizabeth Wickens (nee Rhodes) who were married on the 12th November 1836 in Thatcham.
Edward’s known siblings were:

Arthur, 1864 (died aged 1 in 1865, buried as Arthur Haynes, at St Mark, Cold Ash, on the 5th September)
Sarah Ann, c1872
Fred, 1875
Bessie 1886 (died aged 19 in 1905, buried on the 4th April, at St Mark, Cold Ash)
The 1871 census records Job (31), an Agricultural Labourer, Hannah (29), Job (8), Fred (6) and Edward (2), living in Ashmore Green, Cold Ash, Thatcham.
In 1881 Job (41), a General Labourer, Anna (39) (Hannah), Job (18), a General Labourer, Edward (12), Sarah (9) and Fred (6) were again recorded living in Ashmore Green.
By 1891 Edward (22) was working as a Brickmaker, he was still living in Ashmore Green, with his parents Job (51), a Brickmaker, Hannah (49) and his siblings Sarah (19), Fred (16), a Brickmaker and Bessy (5) (Bessie).
Edward’s father Job died aged 61 in 1900. He was buried on the 14th August, at St Mark, Cold Ash.
In 1901 census records Edward (33) as a General Labourer, living in the Newbury Workhouse as a Pauper. His widowed mother Hannah (59) and her children, Sarah (29) and Fred (26) were still living in Cold Ash. (Their surname was recorded as Hainlot on ancestry)
Edward’s mother died aged 65 in 1907, she was buried on the 30th March at St Mark, Cold Ash.
The 1911 census records Edward (40) as a General Labourer (Woodman), visiting a John and Charlotte Wallin, in Ashmore Green.
Edward died aged 44 in the Workhouse Infirmary in 1915. He was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 14th September.
