Sarah Daisy was born in Newbury, Berkshire, the daughter of Charles and Ellen Haines (nee Wheeler) who were married in 1874 (marriage registered in Newbury).

Sarah Daisy died aged 4 months in 1892. Her funeral service was held at St John the Evangelist, Newbury and she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 25th November.

Sarah Daisy’s family:

Her father Charles was born in Newbury, Berkshire, he was baptised on the 25th March 1849, at St Nicolas Newbury, the son of John (a Labourer) and Sarah Haines (nee Webb) who were married on the 24th November 1839, in Thatcham, Berkshire (Fathers recorded as Joseph Haines and William Webb).

Her mother Ellen was born in 1852, in Newbury, the daughter of William and Esther Wheeler (nee Bivens) who were married in 1843 (marriage registered in Newbury)

Charles and Ellen also had the following children:

Nellie Florence, 1889 (married Albert Henry Blake in 1905, died aged 19 in 1906, buried in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 6th October)

The 1881 census records Charles (30) living at Brixton Rise, Newbury, with Ellen (27), a Laundress.

In 1891 Charles (39) was recorded as a Plough Fitter, living in Barlow’s Building, Greenham, Berkshire, with Ellen (37), William C. (6), Albert E. P. (4) and Nelly F. (1).

The 1901 census records Charles (52) as a General Labourer, living at 2 Ham Terrace, Kings Road, Newbury, with Ellen (49) Percy (14) (Albert Ernest Percy) a Newspaper Boy, Florence (12) (Nellie Florence), Annie (5) and two boarders, Albert Henry Blake (39) a Millwright Jobber (married Nellie Florence in 1905) and Albert Alexander (19), a Railway Porter.

In 1911 Charles (64) was working as a Grocer’s Porter, he was living 2 York Villas, Queens Road, Newbury, with Ellen (58), their daughter, Annie Blanche (15), a Draper’s Apprentice, his widowed son-in-law, Albert Henry Blake (49), a Jobbing Millwright and a boarder.

Charles died aged 71 in 1920. He was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 3rd March.
