Pauline Smith's Grandfather Albert met Helen and were married. Their first baby Charles died of meningitis when he was less than one year old and is buried close to his parents in Newtown Rd cemetery. Their daughter Esther was quite small when her mother Helen died with tuberculosis and was brought up by her stepmother Mary Taylor nee Petherbridge who married Albert, both were widowers . Albert and Mary kept the old pudding shop in Northbrook St . The real name was the cat and adder pub which was a pie and ale shop . The site which Jessops the camera shop used to occupy .
