Mary Kendrick was born in Birmingham Warwickshire. She married George Barby (name sometimes recorded as Barbey) in Newbury in 1859

(George was a Coachman, he was baptised on the 7th March 1830 in Blakesley, Northamptonshire the son of William and Charlotte Barby (nee Garlick) who were married on the 24th June 1811 in Blakesley).

In 1861 Mary (33) was recorded living at Stable Cottage, Shaw-cum-Donnington, Newbury, Berkshire. Her husband George (30) was record at 2 Hesketh Crescent, Tormoham, Newton Abbot, Devon.

Mary died aged 42 in 1867 (possibly the 2nd November), she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 7th November.

George remarried on the 20th October 1870 in Calne, Wiltshire, his 2nd wife was Elizabeth Goldsbury Bobbitt. They had one son and four daughters.

In 1871 George (40) and Elizabeth (35) were recorded living at over the Coach House at Roundway Park, Devizes, Wiltshire. (Roundway Park was a 1584acre estate owned by the Colston family. George worked for Mr Colston, originally as a Coachman but by 1901 he was working as a Stud Groom). The 1881, 1891, 1901 and 1911 census records record George living at Quaker’s Walk, Roundway Park, Devizes.

He was widowed in 1903 and died on the 23rd January 1917 in Devizes.
