John Arthur Tucker

1853-1858

John Arthur was born in Newbury in 1853 the eldest child of William & Elizabeth Tucker (nee Curtis) who were married in Newbury in 1852. His father was born c1820 in Brimpton Berkshire and worked as a Labourer (1851), a Carter (1861), a Miller (1871) and a Carman (1881). His mother was born c1835 in Newbury.

The family lived in Newbury, (Cheap Street (1861), St Mary’s Hill (1871) and Greenham Street (1881)

John Arthur died aged 5 in 1858 he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 30^th December (the NBI records the burial date as 31^st December).

William & Elizabeth had ten children altogether but sadly only two survived to adulthood, Albert born c1864 and Thomas born1870.

(Records show that all of the above children were buried in the Newtown Road Cemetery)                                                                                                                               

John’s father William died aged 57 in 1882, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 17^th February.

His mother Elizabeth remarried in 1882, her 2^nd husband was Richard Middleton. She died aged 74 in 1912 and was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 6^th April.
