Mary was baptised on the 10th February 1795 at St Nicolas Church Newbury the daughter of William and Mary Sharp (nee Cannings) who were married on the 6th February 1782 in Speen Berkshire. William was born c1750 and Mary was born c1761 in Newbury.

William and Mary also had the following children baptised at St Nicolas Church:

William baptised 15th November 1782

Thomas baptised 8th December 1786

Maria baptised 14th June 1789

Sarah baptised 24th June 1791

 

Mary was not recorded in the 1815 census of Newbury, her parents William (67) and Mary (57) were recorded living in Jack of Newbury Yard, Newbury. William was recorded as a Hayward (meaning: someone in charge of fences or enclosures, also, a herdsman in charge of cattle and other animals grazing on common land)

Her father died aged 72 in 1822 he was buried on the 5th June at St Nicolas Newbury.

The 1851 census records Mary (55) as a Nurse living with her widowed 90 year old blind mother at Almshouses, Cheese Fair Close, Newbury.

Her mother died aged 93 in 1854 she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 20th January.

Mary died aged 67 in 1861 she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 25th January (as Mary Sharps).
