Elizabeth Ann Keep
Elizabeth Ann was born in October 1862. She was the fourth child and second daughter born to Luke and Elizabeth Keep (nee Haines) of Back Lane, Newbury.
The 1871 census shows that the family were living at Kings Arms Yard where Elizabeth and her sisters Naomi, Ellen and Jane were all at school. Younger brother Walter was 2; older brother William was working as a servant boy and George was on trial as a carpenter. Elizabeth's father Luke was working as a labourer.
By 1881 Elizabeth together with her parents Luke and Elizabeth and siblings Naomi, Jane and Walter had moved to 27 Cheap Street, Newbury. The 1881 census shows that Elizabeth has started working as a pupil teacher, sister Naomi is a Dyers Assistant, Jane an Assistant Teacher and brother Walter is at school. Elizabeth's father is a labourer at a local brewery.
The 1891 census shows that the family are still living at 27 Cheap Street, Newbury. Elizabeth was now a qualified teacher and teaching at an Elementary School in Newbury. Elizabeth's younger brother Walter was working as a Corn Merchants Clerk and her Niece Ellen Maria was living with the family and attending school. Elizabeth's father Luke was still working as a Brewers Labourer and her mother Elizabeth had become a Greengrocer.
In 1911 Elizabeth, aged 48, is boarding at Shefford House, Newbury with another lady, Naomi Anne Langford. Elizabeth is still working as an Elementary School Teacher and the census shows the Industry/Service as a Government School, Urban District Council.

Elizabeth died at 28 Craven Road on 12th November 1951. Probate was granted to John Augustus Johnson (bank actuary) and her sister in law Sarah Jane Keep (widow of Walter Herbert) on 26 January 1952.
